Spain’s coronavirus death toll rises by 838 overnight to 6,528

Spain's coronavirus death toll marked the highest daily rise Saturday with 838 new fatalities. The country has now recorded a total of 6,528 deaths from the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the Health Ministry said Saturday.

Meanwhile, the total number of infected rose to 78,797 from 72,248.

Spain has the world's second-highest COVID-19 death toll after Italy, where over 10,000 people died from the disease.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections worldwide march close to 700,000 on Sunday as new cases stacked up quickly in Europe and the U.S. and officials dug in for a long fight against the pandemic.
