The man at the head of administering these tests was the Manager of the Tank Research Development Unit, Jim Parker, brought attention to the importance of the use of robots in Iraq and Afghanistan. Parker, stated that with their equipment management abilities that NATO would like to develop projects for robots to assist soldiers. First debuting in 2012, the Kaplan threat measuring robot can be used by bomb squads to examine suspect objects from 500 meters distance with its surveillance system. Kaplan can work between negative 30 to 60 degrees in Celsius temperatures. The Kaplan can operate for over 4 hours on its battery life, and cover distances of 15 kilometers without changing the battery.
The Best in Terms of Determining Threats
The Kaplan is among the best in threat recognition, the user can examine under a car, or look through a vent to see if anything has been lodged inside, due to the cameras on its arms, the command unit can watch it work.
