Journalists in Syria must be returned home safely

Turkish cameraman Cüneyt Ünal and Palestinian journalist Beshar Fehmi of the Arabic TV Station Al-Hurra, are reported to be missing in Aleppo, Syria. This is a worrisome situation. Our colleagues should be returned back their home safely as soon as possible.

Although the information related to our colleagues has not been confirmed yet, the Syrian government is responsible for the physical well-being of these two journalists and all the journalists that are currently working in Syria.

We ask mainly from the Turkish officials and the United Nations, as well as all the human rights organizations and international media members to do everything in their power to ensure the release of these two journalists.

In the meantime, we send out our blessings and prayers with the Japanese journalist Mika Yamamoto, who was killed in Aleppo while doing her journalistic duty with our colleagues.
