PKK terrorist on most wanted list killed in eastern Turkey


A senior PKK terrorist sought with a 1 million Turkish lira ($258,000) bounty was killed in a counter-terrorism operation in eastern Turkey, the local governorship said on Sunday.

Murat Dağ, the wanted terrorist who went with the codename "Ferhat Yılmaz," was among eight terrorists killed in an operation conducted by the Turkish gendarmerie in coordination with the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) in the Pülümür district of the Tunceli province, the Tunceli governorate said in a statement.

Dağ was said to be in the middle (green) category of the Turkish Interior Ministry's list of wanted terrorists, the statement said.

The wanted list is divided into five color-coded categories, with red as the most wanted, followed by blue, green, orange and lastly grey.

Numerous weapons and documents of the terrorist group were seized during the operations, the statement added.

PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU.
