U.S. forces intervened when militants of the PKK's Syrian offshoot, the Democratic Union Party (PYD), were plundering civilians' houses in Raqqa.

According to data obtained by Anadolu Agency (AA) from local sources, a conflict occurred between locals and members of the terror group due to unrightful practices of its militants.

After the conflict got out of hand, the U.S. forces intervened and created a buffer zone between them with their armored behicles. It is reported that the tension is still continuing.

The U.S.-backed PYD forces and its armed wing, the People's Protection Unites (YPG), also do not let civilians who flee from Raqqa to enter the areas they are controlling.

At least 325 civilians, including 51 children, have died in the city since the PYD started the Raqqa offensive less than two months ago, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

On Monday, the World Health Organization (WHO) said there were critical shortages of medical supplies in Raqqa, where it is estimated up to 50,000 civilians remained. Separately, Medecins Sans Frontieres said many sick and wounded people were trapped.
