Turkish jets conducted airstrikes on PKK positions located in northern Iraq's Metina, Zap and Avashin-Basyan regions, the military announced in a statement released Wednesday.

The release noted that the strikes in Zap and Avashin-Basyan were carried out early Wednesday, between midnight and 01:30 a.m. local time.

According to initial estimates, two PKK terrorists were killed in the airstrikes conducted on Monday afternoon in Metina, whereas there are no information yet as regards to PKK casualities resulting from Wednesday's bombardment.

The military also released the camera footage of the airstrikes targeting Zap and Avashin-Basyan, which hit shelters and hideouts harboring positions by the PKK.

The jets returned to their air base without any damage after conducting the airstrikes, the statement also noted.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.

Founded in 1978, the terrorist group resumed its decades-long armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives, while the terrorist group has lost some 10,000 militants, who were either killed or apprehended in anti-terror operations by the Turkish security forces.
