Minister visits governorate of slain governor Safitürk
During a visit to the district of Derik as part of a ministerial visit to Mardin province Sunday, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said that the Turkish people will not surrender to those who pit them against one another, vowing to make the terrorists pay for disturbing this nation's peace.
The interior minister's visit comes after the assassination of former district governor of Derik, Muhammed Fatih Safitürk in a PKK terrorist attack on the district governorate's building which was bombarded with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
Soylu conversed briefly with civilians and students in the garden of the district governorate where he said that despite the unfortunate events that happened recently, Turkey will have a stronger future together
