8 PKK terrorists killed in southeastern Turkey

Eight PKK terrorists were killed by the Turkish military as it launched artillery fire on targets in the hilly Uludere district of southeastern Şırnak province on Monday, according to a military source.

Two PKK terrorists were also killed in operations Monday in the Hakkari/ Şemdinli region in the southeast, the military confirmed.

Meanwhile on Sunday, the military carried out two air operations in the Avasin-Basyan region and the Kani Barki region of Iraq, killing 24 PKK terrorists. A military official also said that the bodies of seven PKK terrorists were found around Binlis Tepe in southeastern Hakkari province.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 700 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while nearly 8,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
