Police have detained 18 Daesh terrorists in Turkey's Sakarya province located in the Black Sea region on Thursday, in simultaneous anti-terror raids conducted in three different addresses.

According to reports, the suspects are Syrian and Iraqi nationals and have illegally entered the country.

Police acted based on information that the suspects were cooperating with Daesh terrorist organization, which has carried out deadly suicide attacks in the country.

Reports noted that the police confiscated some documents and materials found in the suspects' houses.

The suspects were taken to Sakarya Police Department to give testimony.

Turkey has been a prime target of suicide attacks since the rise of Daesh terrorist group in the region. In the most recent attack in Gaziantep, nearly 60 victims were killed in August when a bomber detonated himself at an outdoor wedding ceremony, prompting Ankara to launch Operation Euphrates Shield to secure the border with Syria and clean the area of terrorists.

Turkey has also prevented the entry of over 52,075 people from entering the country and detained thousands of Daesh suspects, since the start of 2016.
