11 PKK terrorists killed in northern Iraq airstrikes


The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) said that 11 PKK terrorists were killed in a counter-terror operation launched in the region of Avasin-Basyan in northern Iraq.

According to the statement released by the Turkish General Staff on Monday, warplanes carried out airstrikes in the region, hitting a group of terrorists who were on the move.

Some senior figures of the PKK were also killed in airstrikes a day earlier, which were based on tip-offs and information from drones and reconnaissance vehicles in the region, the statement added.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.

Since then, more than 600 security personnel more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed.
