Turkish gov't hastens efforts to provide housing to locals affected by PKK terror

In the wake of the deadly terror attacks in Turkey's eastern and southeastern povinces of Van, Elazığ, Bitlis and Gaziantep, the government has hastened its devoted efforts to reconstruct the terror-torn regions of Turkey's eastern and southeastern provinces with Cizre, Yüksekova and Sur being prioritized. Turkey's Ministry of Environment and Urbanization is preparing to finalize and deliver 1,000 houses to those it deems necessary in Diyarbakır's district of Sur by the end of this year. While the government aims to deliver newly built homes by the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ), the government also covers the losses of homes that have been damaged by terror attacks.TOKİ will also make sure that there will not be a high price difference between locals' previously damaged houses and the new houses in the districts of Sur and Yüksekova. While the ground-breaking ceremony is set to take place next month in Suriçi, the government will also make sure that houses are built in accordance with the ethnic culture in the region. Additionally, historical sights will be restored in Suriçi, with the historical atmosphere of the district being maintained along with efforts to keep Suriçi on the UNESCO world heritage list. To revitalize the economy in southeast Turkey, trade centers will be built in both Cizre and Yüksekova. The police departments will be built strategically within these cities with aims to prevent any trenches from being dug, which was previously a problem because of PKK terrorists. With the reconstruction of houses, heritage sites and revitalization of the economy being included in the government's plans to rebuild the terror-torn region, one of the most striking projects for the region is the establishment of women's centers where females in the region will have access to information that encourages them to integrate into social life. In addition to women's centers, there will also be centers built for the region's youth, promoting socialization and education for locals. and aiding in the prevention of youth joining terrorist organizations.
