3 police officers killed by PKK terrorist attack in Mardin


Three police officers were killed after PKK terrorists detonated roadside bombs in Turkey's southeastern Mardin province on Monday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, a security source said PKK terrorists detonated the bomb in the Derik district as an armored police vehicle passed by.

Three policemen were killed after the bomb attack, the sources said.

Operation to arrest the PKK terrorists is still underway in the region, the source added.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guardsand more than 5,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
