Turkish court remands 13 in jail over Istanbul airport terror attack

Thirteen suspects affiliated with Daesh, including three foreigners, were remanded to custody Sunday over the terrorist attack on Istanbul's Ataturk international airport.Prosecutors charged the suspects of membership in a terrorist organization and cooperation in premeditated murder and they were jailed pending trial.The primary suspects allegedly telephoned with the three suicide bombers the day before the attacks.The suspects were taken into custody in a raid in Istanbul on Thursday.On Sunday, 14 others were arrested, including 11 foreigners.The death toll from the Tuesday's attack, the worst in Istanbul in more than a decade, rose to 45 at the weekend. Some 240 people were wounded.The authorities have said that the three assailants came from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, and carried out what appeared to be a coordinated strike on the major global transit hub.No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which involved firearms and explosives, but Turkish officials have pointed the finger at Daesh.
