A police officer was killed and four others injured early Tuesday in a PKK terrorist attack in Turkey's southeast.
Unnamed police sources told Anadolu Agency that the terrorist group targeted an armored vehicle with rockets in Silopi district of Şırnak province.
The source was not named according to Turkish interior ministry policy.
One of the five police officers later succumbed to his wounds, while two others are being treated at Silopi State Hospital.
Tensions have been high in the southeast since the PKK-listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU-resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, over 350 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
