Turkish military targeted PKK terror organization's camps located in northern Iraq in airstrikes launched on Thursday.
A statement released by Turkish Armed Forces said that ammunition depots and bunkers located in Avaşin / Basyan region were targeted in an the airstrikes.
The targets were completely destroyed in the operation in which six F-16 and F-2020 jets participated, the statement said.
The PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by the U.S., the EU and Turkey, has resumed its 40-year long armed insurgency against the Turkish state on July 2015, which followed a two-year period of ceasefire.Formed in 1978, the terrorist group has been fighting the Turkish government for an independent state until the early 2000's. The group then shifted its goal to autonomy in predominately Kurdish inhabited regions of Turkey.
