One police officer was killed while two others were injured in a PKK bomb attack in the Nusaybin district of Turkey's southeastern Mardin province.
According to security sources, the attack took place during a counter-terrorism operation in the Dicle neighborhood when a homemade explosive blew up. One of the three soldiers succumbed to his wounds, while two others are being treated at Nusaybin State Hospital.
A joint counter-terrorism operation by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and police forces aims to capture PKK militants, dispose of planted explosives, fill in ditches, and remove barricades following the declaration of a curfew on March 14.
The PKK -- also seen as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, more than 290 members of the security forces have been killed, and thousands of PKK terrorists have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
