Daily Sabah - A retaining wall at a construction site in Istanbul's Ümraniye district collapsed Monday morning, sending parked vehicles sliding down into the work pit.
Two cars and a truck slid into the 20-meter-deep pit at the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Industrial Site where the foundation of a building is being constructed.
Police, firefighters and health workers were quickly dispatched to the scene. No one was killed in the accident, a construction worker said.
The worker explained that he tried to instruct drivers not to park in the area when he arrived in the morning, as the site is a no-parking zone.
"When we went into the office, a 'bam' sound came from the site. There was an electric explosion and then here collapsed," he told local news reporters.
Response teams continue to work to address the situation.
