A Turkish doctor performed a cardiac massage for a heavily wounded patient over a stretcher in northwestern Turkey, saving the man's life in precious seconds until they reached the operation room.

A 32-year-old man, stabbed right under his heart during a fight on Tuesday was brought to Bursa State Hospital in critical condition.

The patient's heart stopped in the corridor as he was being taken from the ambulance to the operation room in the emergency service.

Doctor Hüseyin Yenice, an emergency medicine expert, positioned himself on the stretcher and started performing cardiac massage on the patient while they were being taken to the operation room.

The critical moments were captured on video by the hospital's CCTV cameras.

The patient's heart started beating again, and the operation also went well and he's currently receiving treatment at the hospital's intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, Dr. Yenice was praised as a "heroic doctor" by Turkish news outlets.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Yenice said that the patient was initially in a serious condition, with two cuts under his heart.

"Following the first response, we called our surgeons, and they asked the patient to be brought to the operation room immediately. And we brought him to the operation room as fast as we could to prevent the patient to remain in hypoxia, Yenice said, adding that he can't remember the exact moment when he climbed on the stretcher and started performing the cardiac massage.
