A 26-year-old Iraqi tourist was captured after he stole a car from a taxi station in the western city of Eskişehir yesterday.

The suspect, identified as Ali Sameer K., told the police who captured him after a lengthy manhunt, that he had only a one-week permit to stay in Turkey and decided to commit a crime so he can stay longer, "even if it is in a prison."

He was still in custody when Daily Sabah went to print.
