An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 hit southwestern Turkey's Muğla province early Saturday.

The tremor shook the Aegean province's Ula district at 12:49 a.m. (9:49 GMT) local time and there were no casualties or damage reported following the 5.1 magnitude quake.

The depth of the quake was 22.85 kilometers, the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit Ula late Wednesday.

Turkey, situated on major seismic fault lines, is regularly hit by earthquakes. The Aegean coast has witnessed several quakes above 5-magnitude since the start of the year.

In July, two foreigners died and more than 100 people were injured on the Greek island of Kos when an earthquake shook the popular Greek and Turkish holiday destinations in the Aegean Sea.
