A new addition to Turkey's natural parks was welcomed Thursday, after the announcement of Aymaç Natural Park, located in northeastern Giresun province as the 222nd natural park in the country.

The Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Veysel Eroğlu made the announcement recognizing Aymaç Park, located in Giresun's Dereli district in the Black Sea region, as a natural park and added that the green zone is now under the ministry's protection. Eroğlu highlighted that the park is a significant example in the region in terms of aesthetic and landscape values.

"Our Ministry is responsible for the protection of nature. By declaring this area as a natural park we continue our work on the protection of the most important natural properties of our country," Minister Eroğlu said.

The Aymaç Natural Park lies on a quiet and unspoiled area and is located about 175 km (109 mi) west of the city of Trabzon. The park has picnic areas for families and camping sites and safari tours are also available on premises. Surrounded by sweetgum trees, the park has a beautiful landscape with its rich flora as well as a variety of birds flying over the region.
