PKK massacre remembered on 24th anniversary

A commemoration ceremony was held Wednesday for the 33 villagers slaughtered by the PKK terrorist group in 1993 in Başbağlar, a village in the eastern province of Erzincan.

Officials including Customs Minister Bülent Tüfenkçi attended the ceremony where verses from the Quran were recited.

The Başbağlar massacre was one of the bloodiest armed attacks by the terrorist group. Dozens of PKK militants stormed the village in 1993 and went on killing civilians one by one.

Over 200 houses, a clinic, a school and a mosque in the village were burned down by the terrorists, where no previous terror attack had taken place.
