Greek coast guard boats attempted to harass Turkish cargo ships passing through international waters and retreated to Greek waters Tuesday as tensions remain high in the Aegean Sea after Greek coast guard's attack on a Turkish cargo ship off the coast of Rhodes.

Three Greek Coast Guard boats tried to approach the Turkish-flagged vessel and tankers traveling off the coast of Turkish resort town of Bodrum from the islands of Kalymnos, Pserimos and Kos.

However, footage showed that the boats retreated to the Greek waters immediately after Turkish Coast Guard patrolling off the coast of Turgutreis accompanied the Turkish ship.

The Greek boats docked at the Greek island of Kos and left to the main port three hours after the incident.

On Monday, Turkish ship M/V ACT carrying dry cargo and sailing from Iskenderun port in southern Turkey to Izmit port in northwestern Turkey came under attack by a Greek coast guard boat.
