Prominent women's NGO to host international summit on women and justice


The Women and Democracy Association (KADEM), a prominent women's nongovernmental organization (NGO), will host the second edition of the International Woman and Justice Summit under the auspices of the Presidency and the Family and Social Policies Ministry on Nov. 25 and 26 in Istanbul with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participating, as well as Turkish and international ministers.

The summit, which will take place at the WOW Convention Center as a part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, intends to address women's problems in the public sphere on both on national and international platforms and raise awareness about the issue. The second International Woman and Justice Summit will host all-round discussions on women's problems by bringing government officials, academics, researchers, press members, activists and students from various countries together. The"Women in the Peace Process" and "Syrian Refugee Women and Their Problems" will be the focus point of top-priority discussions at the summit.

The summit is expected to welcome ministers and ministry officials from 20 countries, and the female-specific policies of each country will be on the table during the summit.

The second International Woman and Justice Summit will also address themes such as "cultural codes and manhood," "woman and peace," "Syrian women refugees" and "violence against women" and workshops will convene to discuss these issues.

The main objectives of the summit are to develop solutions to take concrete steps for refugee women, help the improvement of scientific studies and discussions on women studies on the international level, contribute to the development of women's rights and democracy and create a platform where academic discussions on gender targeting violation and victimization can take place.
