Turkish aid agency AFAD reaches out to Afghan flood victims

State-run Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has delivered humanitarian aid to 100 families affected by flooding in northern Afghanistan. TİKA officials and local authorities distributed the aid to residents of Qurghan, a district of Faryab province.Faryab was among several provinces in Afghanistan severely affected by floods that hit last month. Dozens were also killed in flash floods in the Takhar, Badghis and Samangan provinces. The aid includes food and blankets for displaced families, whose homes were heavily damaged in disaster-prone north Afghanistan. Afghanistan is frequently in need of humanitarian aid, as it struggles to endure violence by the resurgent Taliban and a devastated economy, mostly dependent on aid following the war.
