Turkish soldier injured in clashes with PKK succumbs to his wounds


A Turkish soldier who was being treated for injuries he received in clashes with PKK terrorists on January 31 in Diyarbakır's Sur district has died of his wounds on Thursday.According to a statement released by the Turkish General Staff, the soldier died on Thursday at Gülhane Military Medicine Academy Hospital (GATA) in Ankara where he had been receiving treatment for four days. Fighting between security forces and the terrorist organization PKK in Sur peaked over the last month, with the military reporting more than 120 PKK deaths.The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in last July. Since then, more than 240 members of the security forces have been killed and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
