PM's wife helps another soldier's wife give birth


Dr. Sare Davutoğlu, wife of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, is back in the headlines after assisting the birth of a late military officer's wife. Astsubay Dursun Taştiken, 27, a noncommissioned officer, died in a clash with the PKK terrorist organization last month.

Dr. Davutoğlu, a trained gynecologist, won great accolade after delivering the child of Seher Nane, wife of the noncomissioned officer Astsubay Taştiken .

Yesterday, she traveled to her husband's hometown of Konya to attend the birth of Ayşe Taştiken, Dr. Davutoğlu helped a team of fellow physicians with the birth.

Though her husband's political career threw her into the spotlight and led her to change her daily routine, Dr. Davutoğlu still continues practicing at her clinic in Istanbul and attends labors. She also works on several health charity projects.
