Turkish soldier wounded by PKK’s railway explosion in southeastern Turkey loses life

Specialist Sergeant Veli Ateş who was heavily wounded while trying to disarm PKK's improvised explosive device placed on the Bingöl-Elazığ railway in the distict of Genç in southeastern province of Bingöl, lost his life on Thursday evening, Turkish news media reported.
Provincial Gendarmerie Command units of Bingöl had been sent to the village of Suveren on Thursday after a bomb call was received saying that a remote controlled IED was placed on the railway in the area. The PKK terrroists denoted the bomb just as Veli Ateş was trying to disarm it.
Ateş was rushed to the Bingöl State Hospital but could not be saved.
The Bingöl Governorate said that large-scale operations in the area to capture the terrorists was continuing at full speed.
