10 police chiefs, 1,776 police commissioners were retired as part of Turkey's police force reform


Ten police and 1,776 police commissioners were referred for retirement on Friday by Directone of Security, the institution that runs Turkey's police force, as part of Turkey's police force reform envisioned within the Domestic Security Reform Package.On Thursday, a total of 1,150 alleged Gülenist police officers were retired following a meeting that high-ranked officers attended to discuss the retirement of 3,500 officers. The officers are suspected of being affiliated with the Gülen Movement, which is accused of infiltrating the police and judiciary in an attempt to topple the government, as part of efforts to weed out infiltrators in the force.Many of the police officers who were referred for retirement are Gülen-linked, according to police sources.
