State-sponsored software to help autistic youth

A new project aiming to boost the social inclusion of autistic children and teenagers offers a set of educational software for their use.

Developed by the Development Ministry in cooperation with nongovernmental organizations and two universities, the Colorful Hands project was introduced yesterday.

The project caters to children and youth on the autism spectrum and helps them to gain access to programs to improve their social skills. Several apps specially designed for them on sports, arts, communication and vocational training will be presented to autistic individuals as part of the project. A total of 110 people aged between 6 and 14 will benefit from the project in Istanbul's districts of Esenler and Bağcılar. The project will also include a campaign to raise awareness of autistic youth among the public.
