A group of Uzbeks living in Turkey rallied in Istanbul yesterday to protest the killing of Abdullah Bukhari, an Uzbek preacher, in December 2014 by what they called Russian and Uzbek intelligence. Uzbeks chanted slogans against Russia and the Uzbek regime, and called on Turkey to embrace "its Uzbek brothers." Speaking on behalf of the demonstrators, Namaz Nur Mümin, head of an association linked to Uzbek dissidents, said Bukhari was killed in a plot orchestrated by the Russian and Uzbek intelligence services and was the latest victim of a wave of killings targeting dissidents.
