Young inventors exhibit their creations at nationwide competition


ANKARA — Turkey's state-run research and development institution, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), is hosting a competition for scientific projects by primary school students. A total of 202 projects made it into the finals of the competition's 45th edition. Those projects are being exhibited at a venue in the capital Ankara between May 5 and May 7.More than 10,000 projects in the field of computers, biology, geographics, physics, chemistry, mathematics, sociology, history and psychology entered into the competition, a 40 percent rise compared to 2013. Also the number of female students submitting projects rose considerably this year according to TÜBİTAK officials. Finalists will be awarded monetary prizes as well as additional marks on university entrance exams.
