Turkey and Jordan forge stronger ties

Turkey and Jordan have deep historical and cultural ties, with plans to enhance future cooperation.

President of The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Serdar Çam was recently in Jordan for meetings aimed at advancing bilateral relations, especially pilgrimage and faith tourism. Çam met the Jordanian Minister of Foundations, Hayil Davud, and informed him of TİKA's work in Turkey. Both countries are looking to improve political and economic cooperation.

TİKA functions under the Prime Minister's office and is tasked with the delivery of Turkish humanitarian aid and the implementation of Turkish education initiatives abroad. The organization will guide the Jordanians in restoration projects and advise on the preservation of mosques. There are reportedly other scheduled projects that the two countries plan to cooperate on in the future. Minister Davud also stated that Jordan would like to benefit from Turkey's experience of organizing pilgrimage tours, adding that he hopes more Turkish tourists will visit religious sites in Jordan.
