Taksim Gezi Park re-opens

Istanbul Governor Mutlu announced the opening of Gezi Park on Monday and said it was an integral part of the 14 million people living in Istanbul.



The Governor of Istanbul Huseyin Avni Mutlu announced on Monday that Taksim Gezi Park was re-opened.

Governor Mutlu, who inspected the park with Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbas said, "The Park is now open to every Istanbul resident. We invite our folks, our people, our children, the elderly and families to visit the park."

Mutlu also thanked everyone who worked on the opening, and added that the park was "like an impression of heaven".

Mutlu reminded that the Taksim Solidarity Platform has planned a meeting at Gezi Park and noted, "The parks are for the people. There are 14 million people. And there is no segregation. The real owner of the parks are the entire 14 million."
