PKK continues to abduct civilians in the East

Hamit Çelikkanat, the former AK Party District Chairman for Sur, Diyarbakır, was abducted by PKK terrorists yesterday, while en route to his village with his family.

At midday yesterday, Çelikkanat, his wife and children headed out to go to the Yukarı Kurşunlu village in Dicle in order to pay a visit for the holiday.

At approximately 12:30 yesterday, PKK terrorists blocked off the road to the village and forced the family to exit the vehicle they were travelling in. The PKK terrorists then proceeded to set the vehicle on fire and escaped the area taking the former chairman with them.

Gendarmerie Special Forces Teams have begun an operation in order to track down the abducted former politician.
