Around 40 people, including Turkish champions Fenerbahçe chairman Aziz Yildirim, have been detained in custody over match-fixing allegations.
Police investigating alleged match-fixing in the Turkish league last season have also detained officials from other clubs as well as a number of players.
Some of those detained are Fenerbahçe Club Chairman Aziz Yıldırım, Fenerbahçe Sports Club Deputy Chairman Şekip Mosturoğlu, Fenerbahçe Club Accounting Manager Tamer Yelkovan, Sivasspor Chairman Mecnun Odyakmaz, Eskişehirspor Technical Director Bülent Uygun and football players Emenike, Sezer Öztürk, Korcan Çelikay, Serkan Çalık, Mehmet Yıldız, Serdar Kulbilge, Mahmut Boz and Ümit Karan. In total, there have been approximately 40 suspects arrested and brought to IStanbul's main Police Department located on Vatan Street.
The two game's in question were played between Fenerbahçe and Eskişehirspor in the 28th week and Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor in the final week of the league.
