Wikileaks destruction factory

The Ekolojik A.Ş. Company, located in Kemerburgaz, Istanbul not only destroys domestic and industrial waste but also gasifies bank records and important confidential documents, recycling them into energy.



According to owner Ömer Salman, "We receive all sorts of confidential documents and not only from the US consulate but also a number of other embassies, as well as all currency taken out of circulation, all bank records and cassettes delivered here which we then eradicate. Each item is documented by a notary and then gasified and transformed into electricity. Therefore there is no way anything from here can be passed on to Wikileaks."A MAN WHO LIKES TRASH Opening up his doors to SABAH, Omer Salman the owner of Ekolojik A.Ş., which has taken on the daunting task of transforming 20 million tons of waste into energy through 'gasifying'. Salman, is a construction engineer. During Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan's term as the Mayor of Istanbul, Salman was in charge of rehabilitating the landfill center in Kemerburgaz and placed emphasis on investing into research and development for waste disposal and has also collaborated with TÜBİTAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. In addition, he spent 50 million dollars to instill the 'gasifying' technique. When asked what his favorite type of trash is Salman responds with, "I like all kinds of trash." In March, he plans to begin the foundation of the "Çorlu Integrated Refuse Management and Recycling Center."
