Experience autumn in Turkish fairy tale Ihlara Valley

Listed among the biggest canyons in the world and standing - so to speak - as an open-air museum with both nature and historical spots, Ihlara Valley produces lovely autumn colors.

Called the "pearl of Cappadocia" and located within the boundaries of Aksaray's Güzelyurt district, Ihlara serves up a riot of colors in fall.

The valley, which is among the top-10 most visited archeological sites in Turkey, attracts half a million visitors every year with most coming in autumn.

Tourists who want to enjoy the color palette of the valley have a chance to make a long hike along the 14-kilometer trail in the valley.

There are also some spots in the valley where the depth reaches down to 200 meters. Melendiz Brook, which flows along the valley, babbles along the path.

The valley is also rich in history. There are several historically important churches in Ihlara. Tourists have a chance to enjoy natural beauty while visiting these churches. The valley is among the essential spots of Cappadocia both with its natural beauty and historical and cultural value.
