Muğla province to become tourist diving hub
Local and foreign tourists visiting the province of Muğla, which has the longest coastline in Turkey, enjoy swimming in the blue Aegean Sea while attending events held in the district's nearly 200 bays. Organized especially for diving fans, diving tours are among the most popular activities tourists and vacationers partake in. Muğla's 65 diving schools train approximately 120,000 people annually, while nearly 1.5 million people partake in water sports in the province's bays. As diving tourism is highly popular in the region, diving schools offer their customers a chance to discover a mysterious world under the sea through their tours, which cover the bays of Bodrum, Fethiye, Datça, Köyceğiz, Marmaris, Gökova and Sedir Island.
The Director of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Veli Çelik, told that Muğla is a frequent tourism destination for local and foreign tourists every year. "Most of the bays in Muğla are actively used in terms of diving tourism. We have 1,484 kilometers of coastline and 102 blue flag beaches," he highlighted.
