Nüzhetiye, a paradise for trekking and resting

Nüzhetiye Waterfall in the Gölcük district of Kocaeli attracts nature lovers, especially those who want to spend their weekends trekking or getting away from the stressful atmosphere of big cities. Nüzhetiye Waterfall is one of the 102 registered trekking sites in Kocaeli, whose natural treasures are overshadowed by industry. Situated in the Gölcük district, the Nüzhetiye neighborhood offers one-day tours owing to it being a one and a half hour drive away from Istanbul, which causes an increase in the number of visitors. The 4-kilometer walking track passes through a valley with a stream in the middle and begins from the pathway near the trout facility in the neighborhood. Due to the stream, most of the road is under water. As it is short, the walking track can be hiked all season, but people prefer it in hot weather. The walking track offers a unique view to nature lovers with beech, chestnut and linden trees. The walking track, where visitors can see two big waterfalls along with the numerous smaller ones, has a medium level of difficulty. From time to time, visitors pass the stream with the help of a rope or walk on the timbers that serve as bridges. The most important thing to keep in mind on the walking track is the wet rocks covered with moss that cause people to slip and fall.
