Turkey’s ski centers are ready for the winter season

With a snow depth reaching 15 centimeters, Kartalkaya, one of Turkey’s most popular winter tourism destinations, is ready to usher in the winter season.



The snowfall that began in the early morning hours yesterday and continued intermittently throughout the day has resulted in creating a snow depth of 15 centimeters in Kartalkaya, a ski resort located in the Köroğlu Mountains, in Bolu Province.

The five hotels located in the popular ski resort are working on getting ready to open their doors to the season and its ski-lovers on December 15th. According to Halit Ergül, General Manager for the Grand Kartal Hotel, if the snow fall, which has pleased the immensely, continues they may be able to open to customers on December 10th.

Explaining that the Kartalkaya ski resort is immensely popular amongst national and foreign tourists, Ergül states, "We have five hotels with approximately 2,000 beds. Last season, nearly 150,000 visitors came to our ski report over the winter season. We are expecting that figure to go up to 200,000 this season. Kartalkaya is seeing more demand every year and the biggest reason is the fact that the ski runs are extremely advantageous."
