THY's passenger traffic increased by 20 percent

Turkish Airlines’ passenger traffic during the January to June, 2012 period increased by 20 percent compared to the same period the year prior.



An announcement made by Turkish Airlines (THY) to the Public Disclosure Platform stated that during the January to June, 2011 period, they had 14.8 million passengers, whereas in the same period in 2012, they incurred a 20 percent increase reaching 17.7 million passengers.

The announcement also stated that in both International Routes Business/Comfort Class and International to International Transfers the passenger numbers increased by 44.8 percent and 47.4 percent respectively compared to the same period the year prior. The rate of passengers filling capacity increased by 5.7 percent to reach 75.2 percent.

Available seat kilometers for the January to June period in 2011 was 37.5 billion, during the same period in 2012 that figure increased by 18.8 percent to 44.6 billion. Paid seat kilometers for the January to June period, 2011 were 26.1 billion, while during the same period in 2012 the figure increased by 28.6 percent reaching 33.5 billion liras. While the number of landings for the January to June, 2011 period was 124,843, during the same time period in 2012 the figure reached 139,424, an 11.7 percent increase. During the first six months of 2011, cargo-post was 179,094 tons, whereas in 2012 during the same period, there was a 25.3 percent increase, reaching 224,358 tons.
