Antalya sees a 15-fold increase in Russian tourists

The number of Russian tourists travelling to the Mediterranean city of Antalya has seen a record 1,455 percent increase, rising from 12,144 tourists in April last year to 188,914 this year.
The figures nearly topped the record figure of 210,657 Russian tourists, set back in April 2014, a written statement issued by the Antalya Governor's Office confirmed.
Comparatively, the number of tourists travelling to Antalya by air stood at 526,349 in April this year, registering a 37-percent increase compared to the same month last year.
The number of tourists coming through the Antalya Airport and the Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport in April also increased by 37 percent, as the figure reached 526,349 from 384,072. The number of tourists coming to the city by air increased by 12,517 people to 864,028 in the year-on-year basis.
In the meantime, tourists coming from various countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Qatar, Egypt and Jordan also increased by 320 percent.
The number of tourists who visited the Turkish coastal city from Qatar increased by 320 percent, followed by Kyrgyzstan at 223 percent and South Korea at 145 percent. The number Polish tourists increased by 57 percent compared to the same month last year, followed by Ukraine with 36.41 percent and Israel with an increase of 33.33 percent.
