Turkish athlete Münevver Hancı won bronze in the women's javelin throw (500 grams) event at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Tuesday. Hancı's best throw covered 57.06 meters, falling short to China's Wang Ying, who covered 57.14 meters to claim silver. Greece's Elina Tzengko won gold with a 61.74-meter throw.

Tuesday was the 10th day of the 3rd Youth Olympics, which began on Oct. 6 and will run through Oct. 18. Singapore hosted the first ever Youth Olympic Games in 2010, while the second edition of the international multi-sports event was held in China in 2014. Featuring some 4,000 athletes, the event will see young athletes between the ages of 15 to 18 compete in 32 sports and 36 disciplines for 1,250 medals.

New sports such as breaking, sport climbing, futsal, roller sports, and karate will premiere in Buenos Aires before joining the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, along with new disciplines and events such as BMX freestyle, kiteboarding, beach handball and acrobatic gymnastics. For the first time in Olympic history, this year's Youth Olympics also set a precedent for gender equality with an equal number of female and male athletes.
