Polat Kemboi Arıkan became the first Turkish athlete to take the podium in cross after coming second in the 72nd Cross Internacional Juan Muguerza race on Sunday. In the male category, Eritrean Teklemariam Medhin won the race held in the Spanish city of Elgoibar with a time of 33 minutes and 2 seconds, while Polat Kemboi Arikan - finishing the race just two seconds after winner Medhin - won the silver medal. Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda won third place. In the women's category, Bahraini athlete Mimi Belete came out on top with a 22 minute and 9 second time. Kenyan Emily Chebet was runner-up and her fellow citizen Mercy Cherono took third place.
