The fairy tale continues: we’ve made the finals

Our basket ferries managed a victory against former champs France last night by 68-62, reaching the European finals for the first time in Turkey’s women’s basketball history.

Poland is hosting the 33rd FIBA Women's European Basketball Championship, also known as EuroBasket 2011. Turkey now must face off against Russia in the finals, a team which they had lost to in the championship group stage.
Tomorrow night at 21:30 Turkey's Women's Basketball Team plays against Russia for the gold. After Turkey's Male Basketball Team made the 2010 World Championship finals, now it is the women's turn… In other word's Turkish basketball has once again hit a peak. Just 24 hours after beating Montenegro, slated to be the best team in the tournament, Turkey's women's basketball team went on to beat the latest European champions France in overtime. However, these ladies are fairies… They will achieve the impossible and continue to attempt to create miracles… After last night's game, there is no telling; they may very well go on to beat Russia to become the European Champions.
NEVIN SCORES 23 POINTS AND 8 REBOUNDS
It is not easy to describe last night's game… Leaving tactics aside, our success in reaching the European Championship finals was achieved by our courageous fairies and their technical team. Had Birsel not missed the two foul shots just seven seconds prior to the end of last night's game, we may have secured the win prior to going into overtime. With the 60-60 scoreboard at the end of the game's normal time sending it into over time, it was France that suffered most from the additional five minutes played. Işıl's three-pointer brought us the lead at 64-62, and the French refrained from scoring another shot, with the final score reaching 68-62 in our favor. With 23 points and eight rebounds, last night U.S. born Nevin Newlin was just as much a Turk as we are… Nevin played strong like a Turk, just like her teammates. In the end, Turkey's Women's Basket ball team managed to topple France's team filled with millions of dollars worth of players to secure a spot in the European Championship finals. From here on out, the worst case scenario is a silver-medal win. However, our rivals in the finals are Russia, a team we lost to in the first round. Russia secured their own spot in the finals by beating the Czech Republic team by 85-53. The final will play tomorrow night at 21:30 and our courageous fairies will have the prayers of millions behind them.
