According to Antalya Chamber of Real Estate Brokers Chairman Şeref Sağlam, real estate sales to foreign buyers have been going well. "The favorite purchase areas are places close to the seaside such as Konyaaltı and Lara. Foreigners mostly prefer tourism regions such as Kemer, Alanya, Serik, Side and Boğazkent. They have recently adapted to the downtown as well," Sağlam said, adding that the recession in Antalya's real estate market was a result of lack of land and high interest rates in housing loans.
Stressing that Russians continue purchasing residential properties, Sağlam said that despite the rumors to the contrary, Russians live peacefully in Antalya along with Turks.
"It is not true that Russians have been selling their properties for half the price and leaving Antalya. Housing sales to Russians are still ongoing, followed by Canadians, Germans, Norwegians, Saudis, the Dutch and Americans, meaning that we do not only depend on Russians." Sağlam said.
