A small change on Reader's Corner
From this week forward we will make a little difference when it comes to the page of Reader's Corner. For a long time now we have been providing you a list of that week's top read stories, columns and opinions featured on the Daily Sabah's website. This list has been as much as your benefit as well as ours. It allowed us to garner what our readers pay attention and what are their expectations when it comes to subject matter of our news articles. When selecting the top 10 the main determinant has been the number of clicks but we also had several others. One of them was that the article has to be contributed by a Daily Sabah staff except in the cases of Opinion pieces. Therefore we disregard agency news articles. We published several articles on the subject and we took occasional statistics of the distribution of Global, Local and Regional articles on the printed version of the Daily Sabah.
The top 10 most read on Daily Sabah.com section on this page will continue to preserve its place with a single addition. Until now we have been using the general sections of the said news article such as Politics, National, Business, Sports, Life and World. From this week, we will be using subhead categories in order to provide more definitive information as well as more detailed statistics when it comes to what are our readers' interests. For example, the Politics category will be divided into Diplomacy, EU Affairs, War on Terror, Legislation and Elections in accordance with our website. Similarly World category will have subcategories such as Syrian Crisis, Europe, Americas etc.
We will also be providing statistics at the end of each month and season on what categories managed to occupy the top 10 list most and commentary on the preferences of our readers. The choice of sub category usages that go with the news articles will be made accordance with our web editors who choose the category in the first place.
