Many changes were made to the AK Party's Central Executive Committee and Central Decision Board (MKYK) as the "second Erdoğan era" of the AK Party began yesterday with an extraordinary congress in Ankara. The main focus of the congress was President Erdoğan's "Team A," or members of the MKYK who determine party policies.
As previously expected, there has been a shake-up within the party's MKYK. The new MKYK list consists of 50 party members in total and is designed to prepare the party for the 2019 elections. It has been revealed that 19 former members of the board are excluded from the new list, including some prominent figures like Galip Ensarioğlu,Şaban Dişli, Sema Ramazanoğlu, Veysi Kaynak, Yaşar Karayel, Ayhan Oğan, Mehmet Müezzinoğlu and Yasin Aktay.
A total of 19 new names have replaced the ousted figures including Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu along with Bülent Karakuş, Cahit Özkan, Ethem Sancak, Hacı Ahmet Özdemir, Harun Karaca, Hatice Kübra, İbrahim Halil Yıldız, Nisa Sinan Yıldız, Zelkif Kazdal, Yasin Ateşeser, Tamer Dağlı, Zeki Aygün, İsmail Emrah Karayel, Mahir Ünal, Mehmet Emin Yılmaz, Recep Uncuoğlu and Rümeysa Kadak, who were included on the widely anticipated MKYK list.
