Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu slammed the U.S. administration for not keeping its promise to provide Turkey with high mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS) for the fight against DAESH.

Ankara requested the U.S. provide HIMARS in the wake of DAESH rocket attacks on the Turkish border town of Kilis, and Çavuşoğlu announced that the rockets would arrive on the Syrian-Turkish border in May according to the agreement between Turkey and U.S.

"Our cannons have a range of 40 kilometers while American HIMARS have a range of 90 kilometers. Hence, HIMARS will arrive on the Turkish border in May according to this agreement and we will be able to hit DAESH targets more effectively," Çavuşoğlu said on April 25.

However, Çavusoğlu recently said that the U.S. did not keep its promise and the arrival of the HIMARS has been postponed to August. "Unfortunately, the U.S. does not keep its promise concerning our agreement," Çavuşoğlu said on May 29 and, referring to the U.S. administration, he added: "What they do is inconceivable both in terms of alliance and honesty."
